The 2nd Biel-Bienne Communication Days which took place on the 8th and 9th of May at the Congress Centre was a full success. Near to 500 participants followed the speeches and debates on the latest topics in communication and media.
On Thursday 8th May Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger opened the Communication Days. In his speech he pointed out the meaning of communication: "The contents of communication is new: The market competitors meet in Biel, and instead of challenging one another, together they try to find solutions".
On Friday, the speakers and participants asked themselves how is "public service" interpreted. Without a doubt the highlight of the event was Friday afternoon, during which Al Jazeera's Chief Editor Ibrahim Helal, BBC's Program Manager Nik Gowing, Tony Maddox CNN International Senior Vice President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, as well as Nicolas Lombard, Director of Swissinfo discussed the latest topic: Global Information - the sources of information in times of war and peace.
